Too some they may think rain is on the way. Other may believe hard times are ahead. Still other may believe they are loosing their way. What do you believe? Well I can't speak for other I can only speak for myself because of my own experiences and the things I've seen. As I'm writing this it is February 2012 and I noticed today that I had not written anything. Why? To be totally honest I had lost focus for a time being. I got busy in being busy and stop pursuing what I is my passions. We all have to strike a balance in a our lives between following our dreams and trying to live. I've just have to stop and ask myself what do I really want out of life to live or just survive.

I choose to live and not to just survive. For me to just survive means to just get by, barely having enough, hoping the other shoe doesn't drop and praying your day will finally come. On the other hand to live means to continue to strive for emprovement, continue to pursue after your dreams even if they seem impossible and never giving up. To live is to enjoy everyday no matter if it Monday or Friday, Pooring Down Rain or Clear Blue Skies and where I got No Money or A Bank Account Over Flowing. I choose to believe that my present day circumstances are not permanent and will change. My past will not prevent my tomorrow. I beieve that My God will continue to led and guide me as long as I'm willing to follow. So I choose to live.

Now, will I fall, stumble, make mistakes or have bad things happen to me that are no fault of mine. Sure, we all will after all I'm only human. So when I say I lost my focus for a time being yes, I got down on myself and upset with myself, but I didn't give up on myself. I know me better than anyone else beside God. I know what are my dreams and the visions I been given. I know the promises that have been made to me and I know the reward that awaits me for continuing on. I never said the Road To Success was a short one or even a straight one. My path to success will be different from anyone's else but I'm willing to travel it "When the days get long and the sky becomes cloudy."

Stay Encourcaged and Be Blessed I'll See You On The Road To Success.

Sincerely

Gerald B. I mean they just keep going on and on and on to the point where you want to just say "Enough Talking Already Shut Up and Do Something About It!" You grow to hate to see this person coming because you know they are going to start talking all over again. Then some how they managed to catch up where you or trapped and can't escape you have no way out. How frustrating is that. Now imagine that person was YOU and YOU are the person tried of hearing YOU talk? WOW!

But you ask how to I be tried of hearing me talk? Simple. How many times have you told yourself you were going to do something? Even better how many times have you told your friends and family I going to do whatever. Have they started to just look at you like REALLY this again? Maybe you keep telling yourself that you are going to start working out to get in shape and how you're going to go to the gym. You probably keep talking about that business you're going to start because you tired of working for someone else and how it will be so much different theirs.

There is nothing wrong with any of that. The most successful businesses and or people had to began as a conversation. You first must have the dream to build upon because your dreams or revealed through your words. Your dreams are revealed through your words but your words must lead to actions and your actions must lead to results and your results will define your reality. If you only stop at dreaming you will never awake to fulfil those dreams. It's been said before and it bares repeating the grave yard is the wealthest place on the planet. Why because too many unrealized dreams reside there. Untold businesses, opportunites, adventures, books, movies, songs and etc.

Remember this your dreams are the locks on the doorways of your life. Your actions are the keys that will unlock them. If you use the wrong key on the right lock the door will never be openned. Only by using the right key on the right lock will you open the doors of your future or close the doors of your past. What does that mean? Talking about your dreams is good but working to realize them is better. Driving someone else's expensive car is nice but driving your own is far more rewarding.

In closing, there is a time to talk about what you want to do, but in the words of Cypress Hill "It's Tme Time For Some Action".

Stay Encouraged and Be Blessed I'll See You On The Road To Success.

Gerald B. I heard a great message on this taught by my First Lady Dr. Marjanita L. Ripley at church one Sunday. She talks about how too many people complain about where their life is at now and what they don't have. She went on to say that you have to examine your own attitude and that can be the cause of your current situation or status in life. Too often we want to blame others for our on short comings and not take responsibility ourselves. Your attitude tells a lot about you, your character, your thinking and your maturity level. People may think just because their chronological age that you are mature, sadly that is not the case.

Your altitude in life is really dependent your attitude. The bible tells us "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he" Proverbs 23:7 So what do you have to say to God about that. We all need to check our attitudes from time to time I know I do. We can so easily get offended because someone didn't speak to us or say something nice about what you have on. My Pastor Dr. Joseph M. Ripley, Sr. has a saying that I try to live by "When you find excuse don't pick it up". Far too often people pickup those excuses causing them to become weighed down. All this extra weight starts to effect your attitude. Unfortunately many times those effects are negative effects giving you the "Glass is half empty perspective".

So what do you do? In my opinion and yours may be different. I go to what the Word of God says "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." 1 John 4:4 NIV. The one living in you is the Holy Ghost who gives us power him (the devil) who lives in the world. Jesus said in John 10:10 KJV "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." Having life to the full means having success in your life, achieving you dreams and desires as long as the line up with God says. If your are not a Christian and not a follower of Jesus then you're going to have to work that out then. I'm a Christian and my faith is important to me as it is to many. I'm asking Jesus to help me change my attitude because I want to change my altitude. "YOU WILL NEVER SOAR WITH EAGLES HANGING WITH CHICKENS".

Simply put change your change your thinking you will change your life.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed I'll See You On The Road to Success.
Follow me on Twitter @geraldbcolson.

Gerald B. Colson'/>

Everything is not for everyone

I has been a while since my last post. Nov 2010 to be exact. Since then a lot of things have happened good and no so good but to God be the Glory I'm still here. When I begin this Journey On The Road to Success I said I would chronicle my mistakes as well as my successes. I believe success is not just something that just happens to you but it is more of the result of the decision you make. Some of the most successful people have fell or fallen short of their desired goals before they finally achieved them. The great Michael Jordan got put out the Playoffs before was able to win several Championships.

A mistake I have made in the last several months is not writing in this blog. The reason for writing this blog to begin with is to help other as I help myself. I desire is to be successful and to help others to be successful too. I want people to learn and grow with me. I don't have all the answers but I'm willing to look for the solutions. Not only I am I will to look for the solution but I'm also willing to share them with others as well. I have been involved in a Network Marketing Business / MLM (Multi Level Marketing) for Health and Nutrition. I have been involved in a couple before too but I have never had any success with them. So once again I'm involved in this MLM and I am still not seeing the level of success some others have achieved. Does that mean that this MLM does not work? NO! It works and I know this and that is what is so frustrating to me. So if I know it works but I'm not having success at it then that means I'm the problem and not the MLM.

I come to discover something and I believe that it is an important discovery to me at least. Just because something is successful for someone else it does not mean it will be successful for you. You can work it do everything they tell you what worked for them and still not have it work for you. Everything is not for everyone. I was told don't give up on it just keep trying to work it and it will work just don't give up. This advise sounds great and the person or people telling you really believe it and I do too. The problem is that as some point you have to ask yourself an important question. Do I want to continue doing this or not? It is not a question of will it work but rather how long before it works. You can choose to continue something and hope one day you will reap the benefits or you can decide I would rather spend my time and energy doing something else.

Everything in life you go through in has a reason. Life will teach us many lessons but it is fully on us to learn them and use them. I know with me and this MLM I really took the time to understand what it really was and how it really works. The lesson for me was and is how do I leverage the power of a MLM system to my benefit and the Lord showed me a plan but I still have to execute it. Take the time to discover the lessons life is trying to teach you and take the necessary steps to learn and grow from them.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed I'll See You On The Road to Success.

Gerald B. When life is not that smooth comfortable ride that you thought it should be? When your road in life runs out of fine paved streets and you have to travel down those old dirt roads with loose gravel rocks and a ditch on either side. I know about those type of roads because I have had to drive and walk on them when I was growing up in Middle Georgia. We had those old red clay roads that would get really muddy when it rained. It would make driving very difficult for anyone traveling down them.

The driving conditions were not always the best but it did not stop people from having to go where they had to go. It just meant that it may have taken them a little longer to get there since they had to slow down but they eventually did get to there destination. You too can still arrive at your destination but it may just take you a little longer to there because you have to slow down and make adjustments to your road conditions.

You will run into those occasional traffic jams in life that will cause you to slow down and travel below the minimum speed limit. You may have to adjust to a hazardous condition could by not fault of your own but never the less it still effected you. Then there are those other drivers on the road with you who may not be paying attention to the road like you and trying to put on makeup driving 70MPH. They may cause you to have to swerve to keep from hitting them and cause you to run off the road. These are just a few things that can occur in life. So what next...

You make adjustments for those conditions. Every single detail of your journey On The Road to Success cannot be planned out or predicted. You have to be able to adapt to changing situations as they occur. You must continue to be persistent. Be persistent in be determined that you will not be moved by your circumstances. Be determined that you continue to surround yourself with good strong people you can count on. Be resistant to allowing yourself to become depress when you have setbacks. They will come because success can never be fully achieve without setbacks. Be resilient meaning be ready to bounce back from your set back. Dr. Tim Storey a Life Coach says "Don't allow a setback may you take a step back because God has already orchestrated your comeback". My Pastor Dr. Joseph M. Ripley says "Failure is an event and nevery a Person". I'll put it this way we must all be like babies learning to walk they take a step and fall down then sit a moment and try it again and again and again until they start to walk.

Life like Success will not be easy and it will not just come with a struggle. You must be willing to endure the good and the bad the sunshine but also the rain. I'll leave you with this adversity is just opportunity waiting to be discovered.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed I'll See You OnThe Road to Success.

Gerald B. Napoleon Hill author of Think and Grow Rich tell us that your life will travel in the direction of your most dominant thought. So what are you thinking about, Success, fame, happiness, love, health, wealth, good relationships or anything else? Since your life will travel in that direction choose wisely? Too often we allow life to run us instead of us running our life. Stop it now and start to take control of your own steering wheel. You would never allow you car to just drive down the road and you just sit there waiting to see what was going to happen no you would quickly grab that steering wheel and start steering that car. Why? You know where you want to go and you don't want to have accident. Then why are you allowing your life to drive out of control and you just sit there waiting on the accident to happen?

I believe this is a fair statement. Many of you are Christians. If you truly are a Christian you are a follower of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in John 10:10 " The thief (the Devil) cometh not, but to steal, and to kill and to destroy; I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." If you are a Christian, Jesus is telling you that He came for you to have life and have it more abundantly. What is abundance? Webster defines abundance as: copious supply or quantity; plenteousness. That sure sounds like Success to me, having plenteousness more than enough to spare. We have to think on those things. We need to think about the things Jesus has taught us. What have to think about the authority we have through our Lord and Savior. We have to think about we are the Victors and not the victims. People start to realize you have more power and authority than you have been exercising. Stop allowing the devil your defeated enemy to tell you what to do. You tell him to shut up and go away. You can do like Jesus did and tell him what is written in God's Word but 1st you must know what is in God's Word.

I am not here to preach to you but to Encourage You, to Push You, to Inspire You and to Remind You of who you are and whose you are. Believe me when I write or say these things I am not just talking to you but also to myself. We have to do like the Apostle Paul and encourage ourselves even when we don't feel like it. I don't wait for someone else to come and pump me up I do it myself and so can you. This journey to success in not an easy, quick and unadventurous one it is one that is full of obstacles, hurdles and detours along the way. If success was easy you would not enjoy it as much and it would not taste as sweet. This journey is a process of discovery, of growth and of faith, well it is for me. You'll have to decide for yourself. I say all that to say this stay focus on whatever your goals or dreams are. Don't allow someone else to determine your success or happiness that is for you to decide. Don't allow someone else opinions of your goals or dreams to alter them but do make corrections and adjustments where and when necessary. Remember you are the driver and not the passenger on this journey. Until next time Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed I'll See You On The Road to Success.

Gerald B. (Proverbs 20:6)

In order to know what faithfulness is you have to understand what it means to be faithful. Webster defines it as

Faithful (adjective):
1. obsolete : full of faith
2. steadfast in affection or allegiance : LOYAL
3. firm in adherence to promises or in observance of duty : CONSCIENTIOUS
4. given with strong assurance : BINDING
5. true to the facts, to a standard, or to an original

I recently had a conversion with myself. Actually it was the Lord and I having a conversation. Before you even start allow me to point out an interesting point. You and I often talk to ourselves sometimes in your mind or even out loud audibly where others can hear us. How many times have you been asked a question in your mind only to answer it out loud and you ask yourself why did I say that or do that? You did that because when you think you’re talking to yourself you are often talking to the Lord and yes he will answer you in a voice that sound just like your own. If you do not believe me read Genesis 18:14 where the Lord asked Abraham a question “Is anything too hard for the Lord?” If you don’t know the answer, allow me to help you out “NO”.

During our conversation I was asking why it felt like a dam had been erected in my spiritual life. At one point the Lord and I was talking almost every day and often multiple times a day. He was constantly giving me God Given ideas for business and for my personal spiritual development. He was showing me amazing things to come in my life not several years down the road but something was happening right before my own eyes. I was constantly writing down these ideas or recording them on my recorder for me to later write down. It was absolutely amazing. Then something happen and we began to converse less and less. It was a gradual in the beginning so I did not notice it but I did notice something though. The ideas that had been coming to me as such high frequency had slowed down and were far and few in between now.

I know you’re probably wondering what happen? Well just like in math to have to parts to an equation. You have the God side of the equation and you have the Man (My) side of the equation. It is already a given that God does not change therefore the fault must lie on my side of the equation and it did. Recently I had to teach our children’s ministry at church and most time my department head has a lesson plan that we teach by. The previous week she was not feeling well and did not make it to service so I had to come up with my own lesson. I had felt very strongly in my spirit to teach the children about Faith and what it meant to have Faith. The lesson went extremely well but this week I did not feel anything in my spirit to teach. I liken it to you having a blank piece of paper and you asking the paper what you should write upon it. Most days I would be teaching I would let my wife drive so I could prepare myself for the lesson but this Sunday I drove. The whole way I was asking God what should I teach but He gave me no lesson plan and I was nearing my destination. As I turned on the last rode to the church I asked myself this question “Why does it feel like a spiritual dam has been shut in my life”? I asked myself was I mad at God since I have been going through some trials in my personal and business life and the answer was “NO”. Was God mad at me for worshiping some idol instead of Him and the answer again was “NO”? Finally I asked what have I not done or been doing. I got an answer “Faithfulness”.

I thought to myself but I am Faithful. I trust God with my life. Jesus is the head of my life. I faithfully attend church and almost every event that needs my help I help out. I do many different things for the ministry without seeking financial reward. So to say I was little confused was an understatement. Then the Lord asked me have I been Faithful in the read of my Word and it struck me like a lightning bolt. I had been slacking in my reading of God’s Word. Then I remembered that the time when the Lord and I were communicating constantly I was reading more frequently.

This discovery led to a great lesson to teach the children and I used myself as example of what can happen. The main point was “Faithfulness is it important to God”? Yes! After church my department head came in and I was telling her about the lesson and how it came about and she said that she would continue on the topic next week. See my department head is also a business owner and we were talking about business because her and her sister owns a restaurant and it has been growing. We talked about how we pray for increase and when it comes you are not ready for it. She said she told her sister should have prayed for more help to help with the increase. We both laughed, because I knew what she meant. That is why sometime I say why this hasn’t happened yet or I’m so ready for this to happen but am I really ready. I told her that is why I am trying to make sure I am able to secure the finances I will need once that increase starts to come in.

After church Faithfulness kept ringing in my head. I have to be Faithful in my reading just as I am Faithful in other parts of my life. Jesus taught us through parables that he that is Faithful in little will be Faithful in much. God is telling me that I must be Faithful in my reading now will things are slow so I will be Faithful in my reading when things really become busy and the will trust me.

It is my sincere hope always to encourage others through my success as well as my mistakes to strive to do better and go farther than I have. Colson'/>
What to do when the Zeal is Gone?

What to do when the Zeal is Gone? Well what is Zeal? Zeal is that thing that you are passionate about. Zeal is that thing that drives you to get out of bed and face the world every day. Zeal is that thing that helps you get off the canvas after you have been knock down by your opponent. Zeal is that thing the drives a Champion to be a Champion. Zeal cannot always be verbalized or written on a piece of paper. It is an internal yearning that is different for everyone. Only you know when you know when you have it but other can see it in you. That Zeal has driven men and women to do some of the most spectacular things is history. It is responsible for the invention of automobiles, planes, trains, buildings, schools, mountain climbs and placing a man on the surface of the moon. The same Zeal has found cures for diseases, helped give babies who did not have a chance to live to have a long health life, it has helped wounded war veterans walk again and develop the next generations of medical doctors.

I guess if I had to put it simply Zeal = Passion. So, what do you do when the Zeal is Gone? You need to start by asking yourself a few questions. Why is it gone? Where did it go? How long has it been gone? Do I really want it back? Is it time to let it go?

Why is it gone - is really easier to answer then many may believe. That is a bold statement and I see some of you may be looking at me puzzled. Think about this here. We often encounter people that we believe share the same ideas as us and beliefs as us and so we believe that they will share the same passions as us. You began to share your incredible world changing idea with them and you do not receive the enthusiastic response that you were expecting. Instead they tell you how it won't work because someone they knew tried something similar and fell. They may be able to visualize like you and so they just put your idea down. Sometimes we go through challenges and difficulty that seem insurmountable. These things make accomplishing your dreams impossible and began to drain your Zeal from you little by little until it is gone. You make not realize it at the time that your Zeal is slow being depleted.

Where did it go –the answer may surprise you it never really went anywhere. It is in the exact place it has always been inside you. You just allowed it to get buried under too many things over time. It is similar to the deck in your room. If you keep piling stacks of paper after stacks of paper after stacks of paper on top of it eventually you will no longer be able to see the surface of your desk. Over time you eventually stop using that deck because it is too junky and too much work to go through all those paper and clean it off. The desk is still there just buried under too many papers.

How long is has it been gone – well unfortunately that question may not be as ease to pinpoint as the others. Since these things have happened on the course of time it could have been happening for years and you not been aware of it. Think about this if you’re driving down the road and run over a nail and the nail punctures you tire causing a leak. Now that leak in not bad enough to cause your tire to go flat immediately but it does cause it to lose air pressure. You are unaware that you have drove over a nail and so you continue to drive your car until one day you go out to get in your car and find out you have a flat tire. You do not see any gashes in the tire or any glaring holes you just know you have a flat tire. You that the tire to be fixed and the mechanic show you the hole and it is small and so he tells you it could have been there for some time now.

Do you really want it back – well this is an easy question for some and not so easy for others to answer. Let continue with the flat scenario. After the mechanic shows you the small hole you have decision to make to repair the tire or to purchase another tire. You have to consider the condition of the overall tire, the cost to repair versus the cost to replace. If you choose to replace the tire will it match up to the other tires or will you have to buy an entire new set of tires. After weighing our options you make a decision to proceed in that direction.

Is it time to let it go – that question really ties back into the question of do you really want it back. If you believe that you have done all you can with what you have been doing and have nothing else to give then yes let it go. Now on the other hand if you believe that you have yet to finish your course and still have some more in you to give by all means no do not let it go. You must do all you can to recover that Zeal that you lost.

Now it time for the Million Dollar Question – How to get it back again

The truth is it will take some time. It will take some effort and it will take some doing on your part. First began to remember what got you started doing what you do. Allow your mind to look past all the hurts and disappointments that you have suffered along this journey. Remember that feeling you got when you started out no matter whether it was a business or a relationship. Remember what attracted you to it and what dreams you had you would do with it. Next you will have to start by doing some of the small things again to get you use to it again. If it is a company then get out the office and go work in business with someone new tell them about the business. Help them to see where they can go with your company. If it is a marriage go to the place where you first saw them at. Send them a card and flower to their job it does not matter if it is man or woman. Just begin doing the little things again. Finally remember it will take some time because you did not get here overnight and you will not return to where you want to be overnight. Is it worth the effort? Is it worth the dedication? Is it worth the time it will take? Honestly only you can answer those questions. I can tell you this will it be easy probably not, but anything worth having is worth the wait.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I’ll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. Colson'/>
How Deep Are Your Roots

How deep are your roots? What a interesting question? I know many people will start to recount their ancestral tree to say I know how deep my roots go. That's not the kind of roots I'm speaking of though. The kind of roots I'm speaking of are the roots like tree roots. The roots that run deep below the ground. The part of the tree you cannot see. The part of the tree that give it stability. Did you know that 90% of a tree's roots are located less than 2 feet under the soil, but the other 10% can go down as for as 12 feet below the soil? That is depth of root. With that type of depth some trees such as oak trees can grow to over a 100 feet tall.

In order to have depth of root it is really determined by the type of soil that the tree grows in. Loose soil allows the roots to grow deep where as more coarse ground can cause roots to not penetrate as far. You must know what is your soil condition is. What is your soil condition you ask? Great question. Your heart, your beliefs, your faith, your desire, your about to endure but most of all your level of trust in God. It is easy to declare I am a Christian when everything is going great in your life. God is blessing you abundantly. You have all of your needs met. You have your health insurance. You have a good job. You have obedient children and a faithful spouse. It is easy to encourage someone who is going through something then and tell them it is going to be alright God will make a way. HALLELUJAH glory to God in the highest. It is easy.

Now, let a couple of things happen. You stop getting the things you desire. You no longer seem to have favor with your boss and you hours get cut. The boss comes and tells you that your health insurance will be increasing due to rising insurance cost. At this point you can still give God praise but your thinking if one more thing happens I do not know. Soon you get a call from the school tell you that your child has be caught stealing and they are being suspended for a week. Now you got to make arrangement for them. Since your hours have been reduce the bills are starting to run closer and closer to the due date before getting paid. One manages to slip through the crack and you do not discover it until you come home late on Friday evening from working a long day and hit the light switch only to have nothing happen. To your amazement you thing something must be wrong so you call the electric company and they tell you that you forgot to pay your bill and the office is closed until Monday 9am. They tell you that once you pay the bill they can restore service in 2-3 days and someone over 18 years of age must be home. Soon those HALLELUJAHs are far and in between and more WHY ME LORD is replacing them. Darkness comes before the light and so now your car starts to act up and stop working so you and your spouse have to share 1 car. Sharing 1 car is not easy because both of you work in different parts of town which is cause problems at work because your arriving late. You're starting to feel like your whole life is surrounded by darkness and there does not seem to be any light coming in.

Now, is the time to know your soil condition. Now, is the time to know who deep are your roots. Jesus during the time of his ministry here on earth went about teaching and preaching the Word of God. In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus said "Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock. And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it." Who are you the wise man or the foolish man?

Life happens look at what Jesus had to endure for you and I. Just for you and I to have Salvation and be reunited with God the Father. How deep do you think Jesus roots had to go because He had to hold up all of humanity? In the end Jesus still praise God. So how can you or I who has nothing close to deal with like Jesus turn and loose faith so easily. Like I said "Life Happens" to all of us and we all must deal with it in our own ways. Be encouraged in the Lord especially when time get tough. Keep praising the Lord when trials come. Keep giving God thanks when unexpected situations arise. Do not allow your situation and circumstance to dictate to you how you will praise God. You dictate to them how you will praise. Allow your roots to grow deep, deep down. Make sure your soil is loose allowing for good penetration. Do not harden your heart when thing go wrong. Do not give up on people when someone does not pay you back the money you lent them. Do not allow enemy any room to loosen up your root system. Stay in your Word, keep reading, keep going to a good church and keep a steady stream coming in. Finally, take on last lesson from Jesus he said in John 16:33 "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." You have the victory already.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. I wish I was successful. I wish I was healthier. I wish I had finished school. I wish, I wish I wish.... Wishing for success is a good thing because that means you are at least thinking. We must first think we can be successful to become successful. Your mind has the power to create whatever you want in life. It is just that powerful, so powerful that God Himself said now nothing will be restrained from them which they have imagined to do. (Genesis 11:6) That is the power which you possess, the power of creation.

God said let us make man in our image. (Genesis 1:26) If God said lets make man in our image then you must have his power to create. God spoke into existence everything that He wanted. He also fashion with His hands. That means he had to perform some sort of action (work).

Please understand this even though you have the power to conceive anything you wish it is only half the battle. Remember Success starts with a thought, but the real linchpin of the statement is it ends with action. Action is the exertion of energy or force. You must be willing to exert your energy, your time, your money and your whatever it takes in order to achieve Success. Success will not just come to you you will have to work for it. Success is like that elusive fox in a fox hunt when dogs are chasing it. If the dogs are to catch that fox then those dogs are going to have to work and work hard because the fox is not just going to sit there waiting to be caught. Neither will Success sit and just wait for you.

Plain and simple Success = Preparation (work) + Opportunity. If you are not prepared when Success comes it will pass you on by, just like a rider not standing at the correct bus stop. You will have to hope to catch the next bus. Let's look at some Successful people Michael Jordan is call the greatest basketball player of all-time with good reason. Michael as a student got cut from his high school basketball team but instead of quitting he spent countless hours in the gym working on his basketball skills. The next year he would go on to make his high school team but not only that he went on the win championships in college, the pros and even Gold Medals in the Olympics Game. Why because he choice to work hard. It was said that some of his own team mates did not like him because he practiced with the same intensity he played the real game with.

Michael Dell, the founder of Dell Computers discovered he could put computers together. Michael begin building computers for his friends in college and some became in demand for more computer. He told his father he wanted to drop out of college to persue this course. His father said he had 1 year to make it success. Needless to say Michael Dell did not return to college and now Dell Computer is 1 of the largest computer manufactures in the world.

You can take almost any Successful person and fill their name in the blank and their story will be similar. They had to work. There is a saying that says "anything not worked for is not appreciated". If you doubt that statement look at your own life. How many of your parents gave you stuff and you did not value it. Take for instance a child begs the mom for a pair of $150 Jordans and goes out side and plays ball in them. Not the parent is upset to say the least but the child does not see the big deal. They are basketball shoes after all. Not let that child get a job and have to work to earn their money. Now they are not so fast to buy those $150 Jordans because that is coming out of their money. Even when they do buy the shoes they want be playing ball in them. You get upset if someone just steps on them, because it is your money now not mom and dad's.

Remember God said not they imagine to do will be restrained from them. What are you imagining to do. Don't stop there though complete the process. Put actions behind your thoughts. Bring the invisible into the realm of the visible and the unseen into the realm of the seen. As my Pastor Dr. Joseph M. Ripley says, "Stop waiting for your ship to come in, because it might be a pirate ship that come" because when it comes its coming to take and not to give.

It's okay to think you want to be successful just do something about it.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. Colson'/>
Can you see your Vision or is your Sight getting in the way

Can you see your Vision or is your Sight getting in the way? That's a strange question to ask. You are probably asking yourself what I mean. How can I not see my vision if I do not use my sight? Believe it or not the question that is a valid question. Allow me to explain. Let me start by defining the terms we are using so that way we are communicating on the same level.

Sight is defined as: 1) the faculty of vision; visual perception 2) point of view 3) a coming into view 4) something seen; something unusual (interesting, distressing) to see.

Vision is defined as: 1) the sense of sight; ability to see 2) the ability to visualize foresight 3) a pleasing or vivid scene 4) a supernatural or prophetic presentiment as in a dream or trance 5) a fanciful or unpractical view.

We can agree on these terms as defined by Webster Dictionary. As you can see Sight is the faculty of Vision and Vision is the sense of sight. Let's look at Vision a little closer though. See it says it is sense of sight but it also says it is the ability to visualize foresight. Foresight is the ability to look into the future and see things to be that are not currently present in the now. Vision is further defined as a supernatural or prophetic presentiment as in a dream or trance. God's word says "And it shall come to pass afterward that I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams and your young men shall see vision". (Joel 2:28) Vision allows you see around corners and into the future past the current situations and circumstances. Vision is that picture far off in your mind that you are continuing to try a focus your eyes to get a clear image of it.

We must understand that Sight is a function of the eyes but Vision is a function of the heart. Your eyes serve an important function they help you to see visually what is in your immediate presence. Your eyes allow you to ability to record whatever is happening around you good or bad it does not matter. Now that we understand that your eyes are recording everything that's going on around it is understandable why the Bible tells us to guard our eye gates. Why, must we guard our eye gates? Think about what is the purpose of a guard in the natural. They are there to control access to certain areas and to only allow those who have permission to be there in and keep everyone else out. Well the same is true with your eyes because your eyes control what goes in your mind. What goes into your mind controls what you think and how you think. Why is that important? For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he. (Proverbs 23:7) You say as a man think is his heart but weren't you just talking about the mind. What you allow in your mind will get into your heart and you will begin to think about you have seen. That is why you must control what you see. You must control your Sight.

Many successful people saw a Vision of what they were trying to accomplish before they reached that goal. That Vision was what kept them going even when things seems to not be progressing or even going backwards. A Vision is a powerful thing it can propel you forward with the thrust of a jet engine but just like a jet engine a Vision needs fuel to go. What fuel are you giving your Vision? Are you continuing to keep images around of the things you want to obtain once you make or images of the people you are trying to help once you make it? Whatever the thing that fuel your Vision must help to support your Vision and not tear it down. That is why it is import to control your Sight, so your Sight is not seeing things that will tear down our Vision. Your Sight should be the ultimate fuel for your Vision.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. Have you ever asked someone for something and they told you no and you just stopped asking? How about have you ever seen a child ask their parent for something and the parents says no. The child goes away only to return a few minutes later to ask the same question again. The parent tells them no a second time. The child goes away only to return a few minutes later to ask the same question again. This time the parent tell the child yes. What would you think of this child for continuing to ask for whatever over and over again or this parent for giving in to that child's repeated request? Many would probably say that was a bad child to keep coming back repeatedly asking their parent for the same thing. Many others would probably think that the parent was wrong for giving into the child's repeated request. Could both opinions be right? Yes, but there is something else to consider here. The child was told NO but that did not stop the child from asking again and again until they got the answer they wanted.

What that child showed was persistence. Persistence is the ability to continue in spite of opposition. How persistent will you be when it is your turn to be told No? How persistent will you be when your family and friends tell you that your idea for a new business will not work? It will never make it and you will never make it. How will you handle being turned down by the bank or the people you just knew who would loan you the money to get started? How will you handle the rejection?

Being told NO is not the end of the world but it sure feels like it when you just know everyone's going to love your ideas and see the same big picture that you see. That NO will hit you like a backside linebacker hitting an unsuspecting quarterback from behind. It will knock you off your feet and drive your face into the ground. It can be the worst feeling in the world, but wait after the referee blows the whistle to end the play. Something surprising happens the quarterback gets back to his feet and goes back into the huddle and calls the next play. That next play someone misses their block and the quarterback gets hit again and is down on the ground. The referee blows the whistle again and once more that quarterback is back on his feet ready for the next play. This time the line makes all their blocks and the wide receiver gets away from their defender. The quarterback now who has time to throw the ball can see the field and the open receiver and makes the throw. As the ball travels through the air the wide receiver prepares to catch the ball in stride and runs away from the defender to score a touchdown. The crowd goes wild, the players go wild and the 2 quarterback sacks are forgotten. The lesson is through persistence and perseverance your dreams and goals can be obtained.

I once had a sales trainer tell me every time he got told NO he got excited. He said that it just meant he was closer to a Yes. He said when some one told him NO he would ask them why. He learned from their NO how he need to either change his approach or the product. So learn from your NO ask questions. Why did you say NO and many times you will find that person will tell you what you need to improve to get a Yes. Remember NO is not final until you stop asking. Many successful people were told NO before they became successful. The difference is that they did not allow that NO to stop them. You only know their names because of it, but just think how many more people did allow that NO to detour them.

If you believe you have that next great idea or product do not allow NO to stop you. If only you believe when no one else does keep going. Being told NO may be the best thing that could ever happen to you. You never know that NO may be the boost you need to succeed.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. Colson'/>
Choices (Right or Wrong / Good or Bad)

In the beginning of this blog I stated that I wanted to share how I became successful with everyone. The things I learned, things I am learning, my successes and my failures. Why is that important? We all know someone who is famous or who we consider to be famous. We see them in all their glory per say, but how did they get there? What obstacles did they have to overcome? What setbacks knock them down? What curve ball did life throw them when they were expecting a fast ball? Some reveal it through interviews or through flashbacks after their fame has past. Others reveal them through autobiographies. I'm always intrigued by how they made it but more by how them sustained it. There is a saying that goes it is always easier to obtain than to maintain.

Growing up I had my fair share of difficulties as sure as many of you had. Until around the age of 5 I live with both of my parents and my siblings. My father was in the US Army and so we moved around often from what I remember. I remember living in Louisiana, not quite sure what town. I was a small child, but a couple of things I remember quite vividly though. One in particular was we were staying in this trailer park and we had a bee hive on the outside of the trailer. I remember my mom telling us to not mess with the bees because they will sting us. How many of you have been told not to do something because of what would happen? Ok, and how many of you listened. Neither did I that time. I remember going outside and throwing things at the hive and the bees would get all riled up and fly out and I would run. One time I was not fast enough to get away and what did you know. I got stung but not just anywhere. I got stung on my lips. When I tell you my lips swelled up, they really swelled up. I had to be rushed to the hospital because I could not open my mouth. The doctors had to give me a shot of some medication. My mouth was swollen for days and my parents were given 2 pages of foods I could not eat. The only thing I could eat for a few days was popsicles my brother and sister hated that because they could not have it. It was for the swelling. Did I mention I got my behind handed to me, it was legal to whip your child then. I'm sorry beat your child.

You may ask? What is the importance of telling that story besides showing my lack of judgment as a child? Let me tell you even as adult we are sometime told not to do certain things because of what will happen and we still don't listen. Hearing and listening are two entirely different things. I can hear what you say but am I really listening to what you say. I heard what my mother told me but I wasn't listening to what she told me. If I had been listening I would have not been throwing things at the bee hive because I would have known I would get stung by the bees. As a result of that incident until this day I do not play around with bees, bee hive or anything that looks like a bee. I'll try and kill it in a heartbeat. People say they won't mess with you. I don't take that chance.

Now let's bring it together. I had a past encounter that still affects me to this day some 30 years later. Many of you have had that same thing to happen to you. Mine was a bee sting. Yours could be a bad relationship, bad business deal or whatever. We have to learn from those events and to continue to relive them. We have to go on beyond them to get past them. Why? They will continue to dictate your future because your vision and judgment will be skewed by them. Just I had to learn to not mess with certain things in life because there are consequences for my actions. Good and bad. Sometime we don't make the right choices because of a bad consequence from a past decision we made. What has to be considered is, was that bad consequence a result of a good decision or a bad decision. If it was because of a good decision learn from it. Why did it happen what could you have done differently? If it was from a bad decision learn from it. Why did it happen what could you have done differently? You must learn from them both the good decisions and the bad decisions. Why was it a good decision? What made it good? Why was it a bad decision? What made it bad? Just learn from it.

No one will make all the right choices all the time. It is better to make a choice and be wrong than to not make one at all. Anyone can stand back and judge someone else for what they are doing or trying to do. People judge Jesus, so why should I or you be any different. Like Jesus we have choices and decision to make. Start deciding that you want to succeed in life. Success begins with a thought but ends with an action. Choices (Right or Wrong / Good or Bad) we all have to make them. Just choose......

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. I pose this question while sitting on the side of the highway broke down. Let me set this up. It was a Sunday afternoon about 2:45 - 3:00 pm. We had just got out of church and headed home. I had a client's computer to finish and return to them that day. We were driving down the highway at about 70 mph and we kept feeling this bumping. I did know if it was coming from the back and if so what side. Suddenly, there was a loud popping sound and I could feel something had happen to the tire. Now, we were in the lane next to the far lane on a 4 lane highway. We were fortunate to make it safety off the highway to the shoulder where I could stop the truck and inspected what had happened. To my surprise the bumping that we were feeling was the tread separating from the tire and eventually coming completely off. I was farther shock to see that the tire had not blown out but the tread did do some damage to my rear bumper.

Ironically, I just had 2 tires on this truck replaced that week because my wife was feeling that same bumping feeling one day on her way to work. I thought maybe the tires are out of balance or something like that. Well I went to switch cars with her only to discover that the tire had started to separate from the tread. It was a Blessing that she did not have blow out on the highway that day.

Now sitting on the side of the highway on Sunday, I start to think about how to view this situation. Here is another thing to think about. Just 2 days earlier Friday I was driving down another highway in my city in my car. I notice my battery light had come on and I did not really think too much about it since I knew the alternator need replacing. The light went off and then it came back on and started to blink. Now it had my attention and so I turned off the A/C and let down my window. I heard a noise I was not familiar with so I decided to pull off the highway on the shoulder but I was able to make it off the exit. Once the car stop I seen smoke just puffing up from underneath the hood. My alternator had locked up and the belt had broke. I had to have my car towed home.

Now 2 vehicles messing up within 2 days of each other was that just bad luck. Did I have a black cloud over my head? NO, I say with a resounding voice. The ways I see is that there is something about to break through in my life. Every adversary is an opportunity to grow and to develop. Now is not the time to be feeling down about the situation. Now is the time to rejoice about what you ask. My family and I made it safety off a busy highway unharmed. No one else was harmed in the situation. I was able to call someone to come help me. I have someone pass by us and they called someone else to tell them we were on the side of the road and they call to check on us to make sure we were okay. Before my help could arrive, God sent us an angel in the form of a GA D.O.T. H.E.R.O. Unit to assist us. He jacked up the truck and changed the tire and put air in the spare for us. The spare tire allowed us to get home safety. It also allowed me to go see my client that same day to deliver a computer to him. I was able to take my wife to where she had to be the next morning until my car was repaired. I had the money available to replace the tire the had come apart and the buy the new alternator and parts for my car too. Now here is unexpected Blessing, the spare tire that was put on the truck I found out was ready to do the same thing in the next day or so if I did not have the resources available to replace the tires.

Don't allow your circumstances to dictate how you view your life. You control that.
Don't allow what other people say to determine how you feel. You control that.
Don't allow negative things to dilute your positive prospective. You control that.

"How Do You See Things" - You control that.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. Colson'/>
Don't Wait Go On Without Me --- I'll Catchup

We sometime tell our friends, family and people who are waiting around to "Don't Wait Go On Without Me --- I'll Catchup". We tell them that so they are not just standing around waiting on us. Why keep everyone waiting on you? Undoubtedly, you have been put in the position before and as you know it was not enjoyable. Frankly, it is a pain in the rear and a tad bit selfish for someone to do that to you when they knew they are going to be awhile. That is why is better to tell they "Don't Wait Go On Without Me --- I'll Catchup".

That is exactly why Success tells us that, because Success knows it will be awhile before it can go with you. Success already knows what it has to do and how long it will take and what has to be done in what order before it is ready to catchup with you. So don't wait just go on and get started with what you are planning already. Success has a pre-determined time to arrive at it pre-planned destination. The only problem is that it has not told you where at exactly that is or when that is. It is your responsibility to get into motion and to go ahead with planning what your endevour is as if Success was already with you.

Only in the dictionary with you find Success before Work. Actually that is Hard Work. In order for the ground to be prepared for Success to take hold you must 1st start preparing the soil. Think of a farmer with a field before it is time to plant the crops for the harvest. The farmer must go out there and prepare that ground by removing rocks, debris and weeds from it. Next the farmer has to til the ground with a mule and plow if he does not have modern machinery. That soil preparation time could be a good little while but eventually it is completed and the farmer can start to plant his seeds. Once the seeds have been planted the farmers work is still not completed.

Just because the seed is in the ground does not complete the planting cycle. There is still work to be done. The farmer still has to water the plants and tend to the field to remove weeds. Make sure their are not insects that are trying to devour his crops before they have a chance to grow and develop. He has to also make sure that rodents are not trying to dig up what he has planted.
The farmer has to stay vigilant to watch over his plants. He must also continue to water them so they can get the nutrient they need. When harvest time comes the farmer will be rewarded for all of his hardwork and patience.

The same things applies to us with Success. We first have to prepare the ground, that could studing all necessary information available to you. I could be that you have to go work in the field you are trying to succeed in first for someone else to get a better perspective on what it will take to do it. Next you will need to plant your seeds. You will have to be willing to get started in whatever area you want to succeed in. You may have to work a fulltime job and do it on the side beforing going fulltime into your own venture. You have to willing to watch over what you are doing to keep rodents (peolpe, family and friends) from trying to eat your crops still in the ground. Finally the harvest that when Success says "Hello, I've been waiting on you".

Just remember Success will only come after hardwork and never before. If Success comes before hardwork that is Fools Gold. Success in something that has to achieved and then maintained. It is easier to Achieve Success than to Maintain Success. Music, television and movies offers us plenty of examples of that with 1 hit wonders never to be heard from again.

Finally, in closing Don't Wait Go On Without Me (Success) --- I'll Catchup with you. You do not have to have every single thing already to begin your journey. You can go on and get started and when you do God will send people along your path to assist you, but first you have to get going.

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed
I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. It can be useful when used in the right context or destructive when use in the wrong context. So what do I mean by it................

It is rather interesting how we say we want this and that in life, but too often we are afraid to go after the things that we truly desire. Things like that job, that business opportunity, the car, that house, that man or woman whatever the case may be for you. You may see in the things you so dream for so vividly in your dreams as if you could just reach right out and touch it only to have it disappear into thin air. It is at that time you awake and wonder was I just dreaming or could it be real. The answer is Yes you were dreaming and YES it can be real. The question you have to ask is why isn't real. The answer may surprise you, you want stop holding on to the past and take hold of your future.

Remember I said "Stop holding on" can be useful when use in the right context. Well here is one of those contexts. How many of you men have been dating a women that just did you so wrong? How many of you women have been dating that man who thought he was God's Gift to women so he had to spread himself around as much as possible? Past relationships can be the most hurtful, harmful, self-esteem destroying, emotionally draining and spiritually devastating things in life. Past relationships can handicap people for the rest of their life. The handicap is not one that you can see but rather one that is worse it is one you can not see. The internal scares that some never get over or allow themselves to get pass. They care that hurt and pain into the next relationship if there is a next relationship. Some people want allow others to get close to them for fear of having the same thing happen again. Therefore theu miss that opportunity for Mr. or Ms. Right to come into their life because they are to busy Holding On to the Past.

Next, what about that person working that job they are not happy at? How many of you have been approached by a friend or someone you knew about an MLM (Multi Level Marketing) Business. They told you how much money you can make and all this other stuff making it sound like the best thing since sliced bread. You got all excited and joined in things did not go so smoothly for you as you had planned. You thought people would just be knocking down your door to signup with you but it did not happen like that. You became dissatisfied with the thought of the business and just stopped trying and said this is not for me. Maybe I'm just talking to myself. Then later on as time past someone else approaches you about another MLM and you don't even try to listen to what they are telling you. You think you know everything and that this is nothing more than a scam. So you do not even try. Worse you always had a idea to start your own business but because of the negative experience you had in the past you want even try to start your business so you stay in that deadend job where you are not even happy. Just Holding On to the Past.

Sometime it doesn't even have to be you that the thing happened to to stop you. Many people grow up in a single parent household mostly led by working moms and some not working. Many people have grown up in low income areas ghettos, trail parks, bad neighbors or whatever name you give them. How many have seen that one person you all knew who would make it out of there to be someone. They Mr/Ms whatever in school they the man/woman they go to college or get that job. You think they got it made from that point....Until. Something happens to derail them, they get hurt, get pregnant, get hooked on drugs or just fall on hard times. Now that person with all that potential has to come back to that same environment that they thought they had made it out of. So you look at them and say if they could not make it what chance do I have. It could be a marriage that looked from the outside to be perfect she was beautiful and he was handsome they made a good looking couple. Now they getting a divorce because they were not perfect they where having the same problems you're having. So you say if their marriage could not make how can mine. You're just Hold On to the Past.

STOP HOLDING ON AND LET GO OF THE PAST!

Just let it go. Bishop T.D. Jakes made an interesting statement in a radio interview I heard. He said "When you keeping holding on to the past you can never fully grasp the future. You only have 2 hands if 1 is clinging on to the past then you only have 1 free to reach for the future. If you do not let go of the past then the future will slip away because it takes 2 hands to secure it wholly"?

Think about this if you are on a boat that is sinking into the water and if you continue to hold on to that boat, then you are going to drown. That boat will pull you under with it, so what would you do? The past is just like that boat there is noting you can do to save it or pull it back up it will only take you down with it.

Past failures are not the only thing that will hold you back, but past successes will hold you back. How many men/women say when I was in high school, college or where ever I was this and Iwas that. They continue to relieve their past glory days over and over. They pull them out every time they have a set back. Dr. Tim Storey says "Don't let your set back make you take a step back". Past successes are great enjoy them but they should be like seasonal decorations pulled out for a time then put away.

Stop Holding On to past failures, past successes, past relationships, past business ventures and past ..... It is in the past and you do not have the power to change it so stop holding on to it. Life is meant to be live day by day so enjoy to day because you want get to see it again.

Stay Encourage & Be Blessed

I'll See You On The Road to Success

Gerald B. That was the statement the Lord said to me today as we had one of our many conversations. When you elevate over something you rise above it.

What that statement means is that if you are decatied to doing something there will always be people or things the enemy will throw in your path to frustrate you. If everything you do goes too smoothly then you must not be doing anything of importance that will make a difference. I say that because if you are truly trying to do anything productive and/or meaningful the enemy will try to hinder that by trying to throw you off what you are doing.

That is when the frustration comes in to play. Try to think of frustration as hidden opportunities to grow and/or develop. I know that may not how you want to think of it because I don't sometimes. Can you imagine how surprised I was when the Lord told it to me. That was not what I wanted to hear, but it was what I needed to hear. In life we have many trying times to endure and overcome. Only by enduring those trying times can we discover who we are. My Pastor Dr. Joseph M. Ripley has a saying that rangs true "Trying times don't develop character it reveals it". Throuh those trials we discover some of the most important things about ourselves we would other wise never known.

Through those discoveries you come to understand who you are and what you can do. You gain the confidence to believe that you can do the harder more difficult things in life. That confidence gives you the lift to start to elevate higher and higher in life. As you rise up in elevation you are able to see just how far you have come and what you have overcome. From that elevation your problem don't look as big as before.

On The Road to Success just remember "Dedication Without Frustration Equals No Elevation".

Stay Encourage & Be Blessed

Gerald B. Ripley of The Body of Christ Church Intenational, USA says "that the dictionary is the only place that Hardwork will come before Success". That is a true statement. Webster defines Success as "A degree or measure of succeding; favorable or desired outcome; also the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence, one that succeeds".

Success is not in the final destination but it is in the journey to get there. The only difference between a successful person and a failure in the time when you want get back up to try again. I'm end this entry with another quote from my Pastor " You will always have something to look forward to and the best is yet to come". Be deteremined to succeed don't allow anyone around you to that wet blanket that tells you you can't make it. Don't get upset with them just tell them you right "You can't make it but I can".

Stay Encouraged & Be Blessed

Gerald

<embed src="http://www.youtube.com/get_player" type="application/x-shockwave-flash"width="320" height="266" bgcolor="#FFFFFF"flashvars="flvurl=http://v3.nonxt3.googlevideo.com/videoplayback?id%3D5757e358ca45cb1a%26itag%3D5%26app%3Dblogger%26ip%3D0.0.0.0%26ipbits%3D0%26expire%3D1332928943%26sparams%3Did,itag,ip,ipbits,expire%26signature%3D152D5B941ACEB7F47F2CCBC001B8C8BB9A39A62.359CCC4A3DF9172326A4F69FA3B6E34E6936586D%26key%3Dck1&iurl=http://video.google.com/ThumbnailServer2?app%3Dblogger%26contentid%3D5757e358ca45cb1a%26offsetms%3D5000%26itag%3Dw160%26sigh%3DLvFQpVna-EWZmOKScJy1rm5j0FM&autoplay=0&ps=blogger"allowFullScreen="true" />
Please visit On The Road to Success to read full blog and post your comments.
